To Do List

Any visitor who has some experience with websites, will know in a blink that Eternalised still needs some work. The basics are up, but I still need to upload and implement a ton of plugins, I have to change tiny bits of the layout to make it look more appealing, logo design is still lacking, coding isn’t validated yet, and tons of pages are still missing. I deeply and sincerely apologise, but work on my personal website hasn’t been going so well as of late. You see – it’s the holidays. I’m lazy. The weather is nice, and I’m spending most of my time outside enjoying the sunshine and recharging my batteries, as a matter of speak. Since I work extremely well with lists (nothing in the world is more rewarding than getting to cross out a line), I decided to make a To Do List for this website, summing up the tasks I still have lying ahead of me. I’ll try to cross out items on this list as we get along, but please bare with me – it might take a while. It’s safe to say that, although the website might not be completely ‘finished’ yet, I will use it as a blog as of now. Simply because I can, really. :) So, here’s a list of things I still have to do on eternalised:

  • Design and implement a beautiful and fitting logo.
  • Upload some security/anti-spam plugins, like Akismet, Bad Behaviour, and the likes. Do some research before choosing which plugins to use, ofcourse.
  • Make categories in the gallery and upload my art to the different categories. Decide whether or not to also display my pixel art here.
  • Import (from old website) the Wishlist and the 101 Things in 1001 Days list. Activate the WP Lists plugin.
  • Add ‘Find me elsewhere?’ links to the ‘About’ page.
  • Create ’52 books in 52 weeks’ page, and display titles of all posts in the ’52 books in 52 weeks’ category there, or design it in some other fitting way.
  • Style the comments: add special style for author comments, make comments threaded, add several plugins (Quote Comments, Ajax Edit Comments), and maybe alter comment color for every other comment? Also decide which avatars to use.
  • Write a Privacy and Comments Policy, and link to it from the comment form/comments page. Make it a subpage of ‘Domain’.
  • Style the comment form, and maybe add some additional security (like type a code, math puzzle, etc), include clickable smilies, plugin to preview comment, xhtml codes you can choose from.
  • Upload the “Now Reading Reloaded” plugin, create a library page and style it. Add an Amazon key, make the page searchable.
  • Properly style the two sidebars, add amongst others: twitter box featuring latest 3 tweets or so, avertisements, blogroll, WoW characters, search button.
  • Style the navigation below, featuring recent comments, most popular posts, recently reviewed (now reading).
  • Change colour of h2, h3 and h4 + size. Make size proportional, so visitors can easily make it bigger.
  • Add a functional sitemap.
  • Style additional stuff, like unordered/ordered lists, blockquotes, code areas, etc.
  • Create a custom 404/403 error page to help users out when they come across pages that don’t exist or have a false url.
  • Tweak layout a bit to look perfect, then validate CSS and HTML.
  • Make the website more accessible for disabled users and write a proper accessibility statement.
  • Add contact page providing a working contact form and other ways for visitors to contact me (email, twitter, etc.).
  • Write ‘Subscribe’ page and show different options for visitors of how they can subscribe to this website: email, RSS, etc.
  • Add WoW Characters page, displaying their armor, reputation and titles and a bit of information about my characters.
  • Write ‘Resources’ page. Add more resources as time comes.
  • Create page featuring all links out. Divide in different categories, like ‘inspiration’, ‘blogroll’, etc.

So…I have a ton of work. :)
